The Fjord air source heat pump cylinder is engineered to deliver domestic hot water independently without placing any demand on your external heat pump. Its fully integrated air-to-water heat pump operates as a self-contained system drawing external air in via a small ducting route to maintain consistent hot water temperatures without ever diverting energy from space heating. Powered by natural R290 refrigerant, combined with an electric anode, the Fjord achieves A+++ efficiency while significantly reducing environmental impact.  

Unlike conventional cylinders that depend on high-wattage immersion heaters for legionella protection cycles, the Fjord reaches required temperatures through its own heat pump operation. This eliminates unnecessary electrical spikes, reduces component stress, and lowers long-term maintenance requirements.  

The result is stable, efficient hot water production, improved whole-system performance, and a simplified hydraulic design — engineered for reliability rather than compromise. 

Smart Controls & Intelligent Optimisation

The Fjord integrates seamlessly with the Adlår intelligent control system, providing precise management of hot water temperature, production timing, and overall system performance. 

Rather than relying on crude timed heating or aggressive reheating cycles, the Fjord uses intelligent system logic and temperature modulation to maintain water at the correct temperature efficiently and hygienically. Automated legionella protection cycles are embedded within the control architecture, safeguarding water quality without unnecessary reliance on high-wattage electrical boost. 

Instead of allowing large temperature drops and reheating at high load, the system monitors the differential between target and tank temperature, initiating reheating when the variance approaches 5°C. This controlled strategy maintains dependable supply while achieving a COP of up to 3.6. 

The result is predictable hot water performance, reduced energy waste, and intelligent optimisation operating quietly in the background.
